My Big Adventure and News…

Hey everybody, wanted to tell you about some very big news with me. I have moved to a whole other part of Honduras, about 8 hours from Tegucigalpa, called La Masica. I am working with Reachout Orphanage or (Proyecto Alcanse) So I am no longer with WGO. I enjoyed my time greatly with World Gospel Outreach, however I felt God calling me away to another ministry and to more children here in Honduras, so I’m following His lead for my life. I am very very excited about this new step here. I had wonderful friends drive me here which was an adventure in itself since my car was packed to the roof with things on the roof too...lol…. but we got here safe and sound. I am enjoying my time here a lot. I can’t tell you how long I'll be here because they don’t do contracts or anything, its until God calls me elsewhere or tells me time to come home or whatever else He may throw my way. We have 17 children here, plus tons of the community children. I live here with the children, plus they have two churches that we attend everyday other then Thursday. Its very neat because they do prayer night, youth night, regular church nights… ect… We are with the kids constantly, so I am very happy about that. We also have a school in the next town over, about 6 miles away that our children plus that communities kids go to. Its sooo beautiful I do missssss living in the mountains but the main reason for that is that it is SOOOOO HOT here, but I’m adjusting , drinking lots of water and bought a fan which is one of my best friends here…lol….But yes we have 16 girls and 1 boy plus some female helpers here , myself, Tim (a north American guy) and the founders David and Dialis. I haven’t yet got to meet her because she is in the states right now, but I can't wait that will happen sometime within the next week. But things are great here. New adventures everyday, learning to get used to the heat, eating new things, working with the kids, and making new and wonderful friends. Just so you know I do not have my own internet so I will not be on very much at all, but Ill try to update my blog as much as I possibly can. But as for facebook, and myspace and email, my mom will be helping me by telling me my emails and things on the other sites so if you have news for me or want to email please do so, I will get to it and respond back as soon as I can. I won't get on often but know I think of you all bunches and misss you all tons!!! I wanted to share my big news with you , and ask you to please remember to keep me in your prayers as I am starting to adjust here, to a new place and new people…and working on my Spanish, which is a BIGGGGG PRAYER for me. As well as just walking with God and trusting Him in all that I do here in Honduras and my everyday life! Well got to go for now, Love you all and talk to you again sooon! God Bless!!!

People go running... and tear gas goes a flying...

So i wanted to tell you all about my adventure, kinda scary, kinda crazy, but an adventure still the same...I thank God for his protection and that He got us out when and where we needed to....
So here it is: i had to go get my trespaso finshed and paid for (the paperwork to put my car in my name) and get my car appraised and inspected to get insurance (which is still in process) so I asked one of the other missionaries here, as well as one of the brigade cordinators wife, to come along... so we could get those things done, have lunch together, and do whatever other things we needed to get done in the city together... the day was going good, got my appraisal done and heading for my trespaso when we see tons of traffic and what was causing it... a Protest, or demoonstration, (in spanish a manifestion) all these people protesting for Mel... i had time to make the comment to the 2 with me saying "man where is my camera" i have been wanting to get pics but never have my camera when i need it" about that time i look up and we were all blown away, because all you could see is 100's of people running right at us...then i realized why, TEAR GAS!!!! i saw the cans go flying and the gas start pouring out, I looked at Rachel who was driving and said we gotta get out of here thats tear gas coming at us ...God put us right where he wanted us to be for safety, cause where no one else could move car wise, we had no curb beside us and an open space enough for rachel to flip my car around and speed out of there...I was sooo relived to know how close we came to tear gas and scared , crazy people....so where heading over this bridge still getting away from all the demonstrators and tear gas, when we all thought we were out of it i rolled down my window cause we needed air, my a/c doesnt work , it was extremly hot, and due to all the adrenaline flowing through us we felt like we were gonna pass out due to the heat... right after i rollled my window down i relaized , that was a BIG mistake cause in came some of the tear gas....NOT FUN! it wasnt nearly as bad as it could have been cause i immediately rolled the windows up- but enough in the car to make our faces /eyes burn pretty badly....and scare me more then anything cause i know tear gas is horrible and painful, We went to one of the hardware stores to get out of the car for a little, hide from the protesters/traffic and make some phone calls, oh and use the bathroom . All i had to wipe off my face with was an antibacterial wipe which i had no clue if it would make things worse or better, but i burned so i had to try it... it helped a tad, i called momma to tell her and calm down some , and then afterwards we checked to see if there were protesters outside, we didnt see anymore so we decided we neeeded to go grab lunch, and finish up what we started off to do, since we were safe. Once i got home and was able to wash my face with cool water, the burning stopped. I was sooo thankful and happy God kept us safe and got us back to the mission house in 1 piece... It could have been so much worse, we saw people running, passing out, carring babies /kids that were crying or coughing due to the gas, all kinds of things . But all i can think of was even though we got some of the gas, we had a perfect place to turn around quick, a place to go into to make calls and hide, and a safe rest of the day in the city and back up the mountain.... As scary as it was and could have been more, God was there in the middle of it, protecting us all the way... It made for a very exciting, scary, and adventurous day in the city by far..And I got my trespaso , appraisal, and inspection done. YEAHHHHH! Now all i need is the insurance paperwork and everything for my car will be done completly (i hope...lol) anyways didnt want this to scare you, im perfectly safe, but I wanted to tell you of my adventures, and remind you to please keep praying for Honduras, they are in turmoil right now due to Mel...but just like God protecting us I know through prayers God can turn this country around too and get them out of this mess, but it's going to take time and lots of prayers. Well that was my crazy, fun , scary, adventure story! Hope everyone is doing great! Let me know what you thought of my story, exciting huh? well Love and misss you all. God Bless!

Mel's Back!!!

Just wanted to inform everyone that the "ousted" ex-president Mel has returned to Honduras and is hiding out in the Brazilian embassy. This has caused riots , demonstrations, and curfews for all of us here in Honduras- however I wanted to reassure everbody I as well as the other missionaries with WGO are doing fine. We are far way enough from the city that were out of harms way, and out of the demonstrations. I do ask for pray for Honduras as a country, because this could get bad, Mel is causing a lot of problems between the Hondurans and sparking anger and rebellion. Which is exactly what he wants to do. Also we have been having like in home arrest kinda curfews , where we are not allowed to leave our houses, which in a way keeps most safe, but cuases problems for those who have to sell tortillas or whatever else to live, or eat that day. Today they actually lifted the curfew from 10am to 4pm so that people could go grocery shopping to be able to eat and get supplies, but its been rough for most which I am sure has caused aggravation and anger for some which in turn causes problems itself. This country needs as much prayer as we can get. Pray that they can capture Mel and end this safely and quickly. Pray that no other countries try to get involved and cause this problem to worsen. Also for all the people of this country in general. For the hunger/homeless, for the unsaved to find Christ, and for all the otehr issues people daily have to live with.(nasty water, sickeness, abuse, ect...)
I thought it was nessecary to inform you all on what is going on and to let you know I am doing perfectly fine, safe and sound, and to ask you all to please pray with me for everythign I have discussed. I love and missssss you all back home, and want to thank you for your prayers! God Bless !!!! (I will try to update on the situation here when i can so just keep checking back periodically...I also try to inform my parents with any new information, so if you have questions that aren't answered here- they may be able to answer them...)
-lots of love and prayers-

It's been awhile...

Hey everybody, sorry its been awhile, I've have been keeping busy since i have been back ...I don't have much to tell about , so I figured I'd just let you all know what all I have been doing and how I am doing . First I am doing good. I recently hurt my ankle a few weeks ago but it seeme to be healing slowly, but surely. Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll have no more pain at all in my ankle and it'll be comepltely healed up. I have been doing several things here at the mission house, since I have been back from furlough. I worked on two different brigades. Which was awesome! I met and worked with wonderful people that I will never forget, Plus got to work with some friends of mine who came which was a great and fun experience :) I also have went up to the new mission house with another staff memeber here and we put up installation. It was something different I hadn't done before and very itchy, but I was glad to be able to help as much as possible. I have been doing odds and ends around here since then , I have worked on organizing files for when we move to the new mission house, destroying old files, helping go through donations, and learning to work on excel, which is very new for me.... So overall I am staying pretty busy, but having a good time serving where I can.
I do have a prayer request for you . I would like to ask you all to be praying for me and with me, about some decions I need to make. I dont want to go into alot of detail just yet, but I will after lots of prayers and descion making on my part. I know God has a plan and a purpose, and that prayer will be the best and only way to figure out what I need to be doing and what God has in store for me :)
I reallly misss you all back home, and pray and hope that everything is going good for you all! I do want to remind you all that if theres anything you need me to pray for you can email me and let me know. God answers prayer and prayer works. Also keep in touch with me whenever you can I enjoy reading your emails and being able to communicate with you all. As i will try my best to do the same.
Well i think that's about it right now. Just wanted to give you an update on things here in Honduras. Dios Te Bendiga (God Bless )!!!!
Talk to You Again Soooooon!

Back in Honduras...

Hey everybody, just wanted to let everyone know, I am safely back in Honduras and doing great! Not much going on as far as work goes right now, since we havnt had a brigade since i have been back due to issues going on with the president here. Please be in prayer for Honduras , there are several thigns the country is dealing with, and things could get very bad for the people here. As for my safety God is in control of that, and we're keeping an eye on the news and embassy sites which is about all we can do, but as for now were fine here, and nothign has been said to leave or anythign else, just please be in prayer that things do not escalade, and turn bad. I would hate it for the country and the people of Honduras! They need our love , support, and prayers as they deal wiht this crisis in their country.

I did however get to go to our new mission house site the other day adn help inventory items , as well as got to help out with giving dontated clothes and shoes to the workers which was very neat, adn a wonderful experience. We gave out Bibles shirts, shoes, and pants to the workers which i know was greatly appreciated, i enjoyed being able ot be there as that was gogin on and felt very blessed to be called to serve here in Honduras!

Well not much more to share right now but I will keep in touch as much as possible espcially when there are brigades here... I love and misss oyu all very much! God Bless! talk to you again very sooooon :)

Hi Again!!!! Some awesome news i want to share.

Hey everybody, just wanted to update my blog and let you know a few things quickly...
First is that the last semester of school is winding down here fast, only about 5 more weeks left. Graduation is the 12th of June , and I am very excited for it. My roommate is graduating (YEAHHH Abby)! Also it means then I'm 2 days away from coming home, which I'm super excited about and ready for.... Second thing I wanted to let you all know , is you may have seen it in the WGO newsletter about the fact that they are looking for a new preschool teacher, and yes they are its not a mistake or anything. I have been praying for quite awhile about some things that God has laid on my heart. One of those things is that I feel like He is leading me to work on the brigade side of WGO. So I looked into it, even got to do a week long brigade not to long ago, as well as prayed prayed ,and prayed some more. God has opened the door for me to be able to go and work on the mission house side of things doing the brigades , so I am very happy. I will be starting that as soon as i arrive back in Honduras (after furlough). So I will not be coming back to the ranch as a teacher. I am not quite sure of what I will be doing exactly for the brigades..but I will write a blog about it as soon as i know for sure. I have heard that they would like me to be a helper loading and setting up as well as possibly working alot of my time with the children's section of the brigades. Teaching them about Jesus and His story, as well as singing and worshipping Him, and also checking and washing their hair for lice... I enjoyed working with them sooo much while i did the week long brigade so to hear i may be doing that most of the time makes me very excited....I am sooo thankful to God and all those who have helped me get where i know I am supposed to be. God has worked everything out and I am thrilled to start this new adventure with Him. However I do ask for your prayers in this , its new, and I'll be way more on my own then i am at the ranch so i wont lie it's a little scary for me to, but mostly awesome exciting news.... So like i said i will definitely let you all know what exactly i will be doing once i get back and settled in and have that all worked out. But I wanted to inform you all so you didn't see that they were looking for a preschool teacher and wonder why.....Thanks again for all your support and prayers . You don't know what they mean to me. I couldn't do this without them. I love you all and miss you alot, but Ill see you very sooooon...June 14th, wooohooo!!!!! Well until next time talk to you later, and God Bless!!!!

The Cave....

Hey everyone.... Hope your all doing good. I just wanted to let you all know about whats new with me. I have been soooo busy lately its not even funny. The biggest change that's happen is I am no longer living in the teachers staff housing. I and Abby Schultz one of the teens here who is leaving in June for college in the states have moved into what we call the "cave". The cave is the bottom part of one of the other houses. Its a tiny apartment, I have decided to move in here with her, to help her prepare for life on her own away from her parents and everything she is used to. I believe this is one specific reason God has called me to here. I remember telling my parents awhile back i felt very lead to be able to help Abby somehow and so i figured it was with teaching but obviously God had bigger plans that goes beyond just teaching her in school, because here we are...Pretty much I'm living here with her to mentor here and help her learn how to do things on her own such as groceries, saving money, bills, ect.... Please be in prayer for me though because as great as this is, to help her and do what God wants me to... its very hard for me in particular because this house were living in has LOTS of big spiders in fact there's nests around the house that previous teachers who lived her try to bomb and kill but it didn't work...So you know me and spiders not a good combination at all. In fact last night we had a very bad night with them. the first night we had a problem or saw any since our cleaning before we moved in. We were watching a movie together when i went to get up and when i put my foot down on the floor i saw something jump. Well that something was a huge spider. Now normally i say huge for little ones, but this spider was the size of my hand...So it reallly was huge. Abby my hero, killed it with this giant flyswatter i bought. But about an hour later when we were looking to see where it might have come from , i went to our bedroom to look, saw nothing and was about to go back to the living room when i saw something move by the light switch and yepp there it was again...another one the same type but smaller... that was it, i lost it screaming and crying. It took me 2 hours of crying and almost getting sick to calm down and relax some. We ended up leaving the light on just to keep me calm. and after staying up almost all night since i was to terrified to sleep, i finally fell asleep at around 6ish this morning. I slept till like 10:45am and then started my new day, and so far so good....God willing i wont see any more spiders for quite awhile because I'm really not sure how I can handle much more of them after last night. But God kept me safe and gave me someone who will kill them so I know he's got a plan for us here and hopefully they just don't involve to many of my nightmarish friends.....I HATE SPIDERS!!!!!!! Anyways just wanted to share my news with you all, to ask for your prayers, and to let you all know how much I LOVE and MISS you. I hope God is continuing to work in your lives and blessing you daily. Please keep in touch. God Bless! Talk to you again soon.
